History
Since its inception in 2001, CSDI has been the Tanzanian partner agency the African Development Foundation (ADF), which is the sole US foreign assistance program that extends assistance to directly to the poor in Africa. The main categories of work of ADF are

· Participatory Development
· HIV/AIDS

CSDI to promotes and supports sustainable community-based enterprise development. Its mission is to provide superior community-based enterprise development services on a sustainable basis, and to achieve the greatest good for the largest number of people.
In addition to the ADF contract, CSDI individual consultants and members have been involved in a number of consultancies focusing on project management, Project appraisal and analysis, sub-sector and Industry analyses, Monitoring and Evaluation, market studies, Training of trainers, Workshops and seminars facilitation, etc.
